FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee’s mission entering its second fall tournament was to put the first one in the rearview mirror. Mission accomplished.

The Blue Raiders shot the 14th best round in school history with a 5-under par 279 to win the Mason Rudolph Championship for the second time in three years. MT had a 54-hole total of 844 to win by one stroke over Mississippi and the 844 was the fourth best three-round score in school history.

“I am so proud of the way we bounced back after getting embarrassed at the Carpet Capital Collegiate,” said Head Coach Whit Turnbow. “Hunter (Green) played great but we also had four guys in the top 25. Now we have to put this behind us and get ready for a great field at Alabama this weekend.”

Senior Hunter Green also took the individual title for his fourth career win. Green matched his best career round on Sunday with a 4-under par 67 to finish with a 205 total which also equaled his top 54-hole score. Green is the first Blue Raider to ever win the individual title at the Mason Rudolph.

“I hit it really well all week,” said Green. “The first two rounds, I didn’t make very many putts at all, but I wasn’t making any bogeys, so I was still under par. But today I really got it going, I made a few putts. I was five under coming to the last hole and hadn’t made a bogey all day. I didn’t three-putt all week and I made some really good putts so that took a lot of pressure off of me for the rest of the day.”

Green was not the only Blue Raider to excel over the weekend. Paul Sansom, Brett Patterson, and Lucas Armstrong all finished in the top 25.

Sansom carded a 211 total for an eighth place and registered an impressive 69 in the final round. The eighth place finish marked the best of his Blue Raider career.

Patterson, an all-conference performer as a freshman, matched Sansom’s 69 on Sunday for a 212 total. Patterson tied for ninth.

Armstrong enjoyed a strong tournament by tying for 22nd with a 216. The sophomore shot even par in two of the three rounds.

Andrew Cho, playing in his first collegiate tournament, tied for 64th.

The Blue Raiders will now prepare for the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate on Oct. 3-4.
