MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee softball team will host its 2011 alumni game on Friday at 6 p.m. CDT at Blue Raider Field.

The game is part of a multitude of festivities occurring on campus this weekend as part of the school’s homecoming weekend. A complete list of events can be found here.

Friday night’s game will feature more than 20 members from past Blue Raider softball teams. Former Middle Tennessee squads as far back as 1996 will be represented all the way through last season’s team which will be represented by recent alumni Corrie Abel and Jessica Ives.

Other notable attendees include 2004 Sun Belt Player of the Year Cortney Mitchell, 1999 and 2000 OVC Pitcher of the Year Jennifer Martinez and 2004 All-Sun Belt catcher Leah Grotthause.

“The coaching staff is very excited about this year’s turnout,” said softball head coach Sue Nevar. “This should be a very fun weekend for everyone involved.

“This provides our current team with the opportunity to meet the players that laid the foundation for this program. In addition, our coaching staff will get to meet many of these players for the very first time, which I am very much looking forward to doing.”

The contest will not have a set number of innings, however, it will be limited to one hour and 15 minutes.

Fans who are unable to make it to Blue Raider Field on Friday night will have an opportunity to meet and greet the alumni at Saturday afternoon’s tailgate. The event will be held on the north side of campus in between the tennis courts from 4-5:30 p.m.

Fans are also reminded that the Blue Raiders will host Lipscomb for an exhibition doubleheader on Sunday at 1 p.m. CDT at Blue Raider Field. The teams will play a 10-inning game followed by a seven-inning contest.
