Postgame Quotes from Lady Raider's 79-59 Win over Life

November 6, 2001 · MT Media Relations
MT Lady Raider Head Coach Stephany Smith "This game was exhausting for me. We played a lot of players tonight, because I know what the six veterans can do and tonight was about evaluating the rookies. Things are a lot different when the lights come on and it is time to play a real game. We were sluggish at times and it tells me we still have a lot of work to do in terms of conditioning."

"We had five freshman on the court the last four minutes of the game. That may not happen during the regular season, but I wanted to see what they could do. I was excited about the play of our two big kids, Renee Hall and Jessica Schlueter, tonight. It was good to see what the freshman could do out there, because it is a different look when you add a couple of veterans on the court."

"A lot of people have been asking me who I am going to red shirt and if I can make everyone happy since I have 14 players on the bench. I said why make it a negative, when it can be a positive. We could be more aggressive with our plays and on the court with that many people on the bench."

"We didn't play Jamie Thomatis tonight because she had to sit out tonight's game for missing class."

MT Forward Joanne Aluka

"It was good to get into a real game situation with the exhibition tonight. It gives us a chance to work on our chemistry on the court. This is a good chance for the freshman to realize what game time is all about, and know they have to give their all for 40 minutes. Right now the newcomers are focusing on finding the right spot on the court and then just playing basketball."
