Haggard tied for 14th at Susie Maxwell Berning Classic

NORMAN, Okla. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team received a strong opening round from Ashley Haggard with an even-par 72 on Sunday, but the Blue Raiders sit in ninth place (out of 17) overall in one of the deepest fields they will play all season after carding an 11-over 299 at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.

Haggard posted a team-high five birdies in the round, and is tied for 14th-place in the 90-player field, four strokes off the pace.

Karisa Akin put up with three birdies en route to tying for 22nd at two-over, and Natalie Chrisopulos was just one stroke behind and tied for 32nd, shooting a one-under on the back nine on the way to recording a three-over 75 for the day.

After a tough start, Olivia Love was exceptionally strong down the stretch, ending at six-over and in a tie for 57th, and Allie Knight posted a seven-over 79 to tie for 64th.

Middle Tennessee will begin the second round of play at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic on Monday at 9 a.m. Live scoring will be available through Golfstat.com.
