Davis continues to roll at USTA/ITA Regional Championships

Sophomore cemented spot in Round of 16

No. 7 seed Ben Davis continued his march through the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships on Friday, winning a pair of matches to advance to the Round of 16. Matthew Langley and Ettore Zito also earned victories in the tournament.

Davis won both matches on the day in straight sets, opening with a tough first set against Ball State's Austin Smith. The two battled into a tiebreaker, with Davis earning the 7-4 win in the tiebreaker for a 7-6 victory in the set. Davis then took the second set, 6-4. The London, England, native advanced to face Joe Salisbury (Memphis) in the Round of 32 and earned 7-5, 6-3 wins to cement a spot in the Round of 16.

Langley defeated Dayton's Joe West, 6-3, 6-3, in his first match of the day before falling to Tennessee's Edward Jones, 6-1, 6-1, in the Round of 32.

Zito advanced to the Consolation Draw's Round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Murray State's Arthur Valle. Zito, along with Davis, will continue action on Saturday.
