Intrasquad scrimmage will close out fallOctober 27, 2011 · Athletic Communications
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Middle Tennessee softball team will wrap up its fall practice period with an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. CDT at Blue Raider Field.
The scrimmage closes out the fall season which featured six weeks of team practices and scrimmages as well as eight exhibition games.
“The fall season is a very critical part of the year,” said head coach Sue Nevar. “It serves as a barometer for us to see which areas of our team need improvement. I feel like we learned a great amount about our team over the last few weeks.”
The team will now begin a period of individual workouts designed to help each player improve in specific areas. The workouts will run through the end of the fall semester.
“We made lots of strides this fall,” Nevar said. “Now we need to focus on improving individually over the next few weeks as we head into the spring.”
Following Christmas break, the Blue Raiders will return to campus in January and immediately begin its preseason preparations before the season starts in mid-February.
“The goal over the break will be for our players to maintain the gains they made this fall and come back ready to go in January,” said Nevar. “I am already very excited and cannot wait to get the season under way.”
