Foreman/Gustafsson Win Three Doubles Matches
November 10, 2001 · MT Media RelationsForeman and Gustafsson, ranked seventh in the nation, dropped their fist match in the 16-team tourney but stayed alive with a victory Thursday night in the backdraw. The duo then defeated Louisville's Cody Conley and Joachim Lien, 8-6, on Friday night before taking care of VCU's Florian Marquardt and Pedro Nieto, 8-4, on Saturday.
In singles play, sixth-seeded Daniel Klemetz defeated Guillaume Bouvier of Boise State, 6-2, 6-2, before dropping a 3-6, 4-6 decision to Minnesota's Harsh Mankad in the quarterfinals on Friday. Gustafsson dropped his second-round match to David Loewenthal of Wake Forest, 4-6, 6-7 (4).
The National Indoor Championships mark the final event for the Blue Raiders in the fall season. MT opens the spring campaign in January at the University of Hawaii on the 18th. The home opener will be January 26 against Louisville.
