MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men’s golf coach Whit Turnbow announced today the signing of Drake Duncan to a scholarship agreement. Duncan is a highly-rated player from South Warren High School in Bowling Green, Ky.

“I committed to Middle Tennessee for many reasons,” Duncan said. “One is the coaching staff because they have so many tools in place to make you the best possible player you can be. Another reason is my friendship with current player Paul Sansom who I have known for a very long time and have a close relationship with his family. It is just an amazing opportunity to be a part of the Blue Raider family and a member of such a top-notch program.”

Duncan is rated the No. 86 player nationally in the 2012 class by GolfWeek.com and is ranked the No. 2 player in the state of Kentucky. He chose the Blue Raiders over WKU, South Alabama, Louisville, and Belmont.

Duncan won the Bluegrass Junior Championship with a 67-73, while finishing 18th at the prestigious Bubba Conlee National Junior where 130 golfers competed. He also placed 21st out of 208 golfers at the Future Masters with rounds of 71-74-72.

“We are very excited to have Drake join our program,” said Turnbow. “He brings tremendous national experience, a great work ethic, and academic success to our team. Drake is exactly the type of student-athlete we want to be part of our family at Middle Tennessee.”
