LEXINGTON, Ky. - After standout seasons for the Middle Tennessee volleyball team, Ashley Adams and Maria Szivos picked up All-South Region accolades from the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

"We had a challenging season for sure this year, but we ended on a positive note by getting an at-large bid," head coach Matt Peck said. "Both Ashley and Maria made big contributions for us, and we hope that we can keep it going next year with Ashley. Maria has been a tremendous part of our program over the past two seasons after transferring from New Orleans, and I think this is a nice way to send her off."

This season marks the sixth consecutive that Middle Tennessee has placed at least one player on the All-South Region Team.

Adams earned a spot on the squad after picking up All-Sun Belt First Team honors for the second consecutive season. The junior led the Blue Raiders this season in kills per set at 3.73 and hit at a .284 rate. Adams also tallied 82 blocks on the season, including 17 of the solo variety, which is the most by a Blue Raider since the 2004 season.

With her inclusion on the All-Region team, Adams is now eligible All-America honors, which will be released later this month.

Szivos took home Honorable Mention honors, finishing second on the team in kills per set at 2.80, but she really excelled in conference play, hitting .311 and averaging 3.05 kills per frame en route to earning a slot on the All-Sun Belt First Team for a second straight year. The senior was also strong defensively as one of the only six rotation players for MT this season, tallying 1.95 digs and 0.62 blocks per set.
