MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee softball assistant coaches Megan Rhodes Smith and Kassie Stanfill have announced the opening of registration for the 2012 pitching and hitting winter clinics.
Stanfill will lead the hitting clinic which will include batting drills that are typical for a Blue Raider team practice. Meanwhile Smith will guide the pitching clinic, focusing on mechanics with each particular participant.
“We are excited to once again be hosting these clinics,” said Stanfill. “With our experience playing Division I college softball, we feel we possess valuable knowledge that we look to pass on to clinic participants through drills and individual instruction.”
This year’s clinics will be held Jan. 14 inside the Murphy Center on the Middle Tennessee campus. The pitching session will take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. with registration running immediately prior from 9:15-9:45 a.m. The hitting clinic will be divided into two groups. Players age 12 and under will register from 12:30-1:15 p.m. with their session following from 1:30-4 p.m. Those 13 and older are asked to be on hand to register from 3:30-4:15 p.m. and their session will take place from 4:30-7 p.m.
The cost to attend each session is $75. To register and for more information about the hitting clinic, contact Stanfill at stanfill@mtsu.edu. Those wishing to sign up for the pitching clinic should contact Smith at marsmith@mtsu.edu.
Attendees will be required to bring the clinic form, a copy of their insurance and their payment with them to the clinic. The deadline to register is Jan. 7, however, walk-ups will be allowed with the addition of a $25 late fee.
