Adams named AVCA All-American
Sixth straight season a Blue Raider has earned the honorsDecember 14, 2011 · Athletic Communications
"It's always great to have one of your players honored by your fellow coaches," head coach Matt Peck said. "Ashley was really a big contributor for us this season, and I certainly hope that she can keep it going for us next season. She had some really big matches during the season, and she was one of the reasons we were able to come back from those early season losses."
Adams was named to the All-South Region Team earlier this month after posting a standout season for the Blue Raiders in 2011, helping lead the school to a sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. The junior earned both All-Sun Belt First Team and All-Sun Belt Tournament honors, leading the squad in kills per set at 3.73 and hitting .284. Adams was also a force to be reckoned with defensively, putting up 82 blocks, including 17 of the solo variety, the most for a Blue Raider since the 2004 season.
Dating back to the 2006 season, a Blue Raider has been honored as an AVCA All-American nine times, more than any other Sun Belt school.
