Ivey named Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year

Brentwood native will join volleyball program in 2012

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - After helping Ravenwood High School to back-to-back state championships, incoming freshman Alyssa Ivey was recognized as the Tennessee's Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year.

The senior setter recorded 1,380 assists this season while leading the Lady Raptors to a 45-8 record.

"We are very excited to have Alyssa joining our team in January," head coach Matt Peck said. "She's had an outstanding high school and club career, and it's great to see her get the recognition she richly deserves."

The Gatorade Player of the Year Award is given out annually to one student athlete in each state that has excelled both academically and athletically while displaying exemplary character.

Ivey graduated early from Ravenwood and will be enrolling at Middle Tennessee in for the spring 2012 semester.
