Green makes Patriot All-America field
Blue Raider one of 84 collegiate golfers invited
December 22, 2011 · Athletic CommunicationsGreen, a senior from Evensville, Tenn., led the Blue Raiders during the fall with a 70.1 stroke average and won the Mason Rudolph. Green’s stroke average ranks 11th nationally and he has earned all-conference honors the past two years.
The Wigwam Golf Club, along with the Arizona Golf Association (AGA) and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), is partnering with the Folds of Honor Foundation to host the inaugural Patriot All-America (www.patriotallamerica.com). The AGA is the host organization for the event, while the GCAA will administer the player invitations. Senator John McCain and Jerry Colangelo serve as co-chairmen for the event.
To show support for Folds of Honor, each golfer will carry a commemorative PING golf bag bearing the name of a fallen soldier from the community in which they live or attend school.
Green’s bag will honor Edward Schrank from Rochelle,Ill. Schrank was a Gunnery Sergeant in the Marine’s.
“When Hunter returns from the tournament we will auction his bag off on-line and give all the proceeds to the Folds of Honor,” said MT Head Coach Whit Turnbow.
