MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Middle Tennessee juniors Cordairo Golden and Ann Dudley were named Sun Belt Male and Female Field Athletes of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.

The two were honored for their performances at last weekend’s Kentucky Invitational.

Golden captured three top-five finishes in the jumps events highlighted by his personal-best leap of 50 feet, 0.75 inches (15.26 meters) in the triple jump, good enough to finish second in the competition. The mark currently ranks as tied for 15th best in the country this season. The Memphis, Tenn., product also set a personal-best in the high jump, posting a leap of 6-04.25 (1.94m).

Dudley won the women’s high jump on Saturday in Lexington, Ky., while placing ninth in the triple jump and 11th in the 60-meter hurdles. Her leap of 5-11.50 (1.82m) in the high jump was just short of her personal-best of 6-0.00 (1.83m) which came earlier this season at the MT Christmas Invitational and is the nation’s second-best mark during the 2011-12 indoor track season.

“I am very pleased for both Ann and Cordairo,” said Middle Tennessee head coach Dean Hayes. “They had great performances this past weekend and are on their way to putting together fantastic seasons.”

The accolade is the second Sun Belt weekly award for Dudley as she was honored following her performance at last season’s Ed Temple Classic. Meanwhile this marks the first time Golden has been recognized as the conference’s athlete of the week.

The Middle Tennessee track and field teams return to action this weekend when they host the Blue Raider Invitational on Saturday at the Murphy Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. CT and is free to attend.
