Christoph Lang and Ben Davis each suffered losses in their singles matches, but earned an 8-4 doubles victory over the No. 51 VT tandem of Somen and Tocci.
In Flight A, Zito captured the first set 6-4 and was leading 2-1 in the second set when Patrick Daciek suffered an injury, giving Zito the win.
Brand fell, 1-6, in the first set and battled back for a 6-4 win in the second set before taking the match with an 11-9 victory in the super tiebreaker.
