MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee head soccer coach Aston Rhoden has announced the addition of 11 student-athletes, including four from Tennessee and three internationals, as members of the 2012 recruiting class to join the Blue Raiders beginning next fall.
“This is a very talented and versatile recruiting class,” Rhoden said. “Our goal during this recruiting period was to increase the depth of our team without compromising its quality. Our non-conference schedule will be tough again next year and we need to be able to sustain a high level of play while minimizing injuries and fatigue to our team.
“Every member of this class is coming from high caliber club and high school teams and a few have experience at the region and youth national team levels. The versatility of this class will allow us to maintain a high level of play over longer periods and play out of several different systems. I can hardly wait to blend this group with a strong group of returning players.”
The quartet from the Volunteer State features a pair of Midstate signees, Kelsey Brouwer (Franklin, Tenn.) and Tori Hawkins (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) plus two from the Eastern part of the state with Ashley Roth (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Kristina Turner (Lenoir City, Tenn.) coming on board.
Other stateside products include two from Kansas, Emily Jorgenson (Overland Park, Kan.) and Taylor Kirk (Olathe, Kan.), one from Virginia, Brianna Jasenak (Yorktown, Va.) and one from Texas, Grace Summers (Carrollton, Texas).
The international trio hails from different parts of the globe. Amalie Anderdal (Roise, Norway), Kate Loye (Hamilton, New Zealand) and Spencer Roberts (Sarnia, Ontario) all have agreed to enroll at Middle Tennessee and continue their soccer careers.
