Women’s tennis drops road match at Tulane
Season-opening road swing nearing its end
February 12, 2012 · Athletic CommunicationsNEW ORLEANS – Middle Tennessee managed just one singles win Sunday in dropping a 6-1 decision at undefeated Tulane in women’s tennis action at the Goldring Tennis Center in New Orleans.
The Blue Raiders started the day by being swept in doubles action against the Green Wave before managing just the one triumph in singles play.
Middle Tennessee (3-2) junior Lexi Brand was victorious in her No. 3 position meeting with Caroline Thornton, handing her a 6-2, 6-2 setback.
Tulane (6-0) won the other five singles matches in straight sets to post the win.
The season-opening seven-match road swing continues next weekend for the Blue Raiders, as they travel to Memphis, Tenn., to play No. 59 Memphis Saturday and then a neutral-site match against UT-Martin at 9 a.m. Sunday.
