Blue Raiders finish second at Samford Intercollegiate

ONEONTA, Ala. - Ashley Haggard finished in a tie for sixth, and Karisa Akin ended in 10th, but it wasn't enough as the Middle Tennessee women's golf team carded a 24-over 312 in the third and final round on Tuesday to finish just one stroke out of first place at the Samford Intercollegiate at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.

MT ended the event at 51-over, and Troy took home the team crown at 50-over.

Haggard recorded a five-over 77 for the second straight day to end the event at 10-over, and Akin shot a 78 to finish at 12-over.

Allie Knight recorded a round of 78, and Olivia Love shot a 79. The duo tied for 19th and 16th, respectively, at 15-over and 14-over.

Haley Cothran shaved two strokes off of her second round total to end with an 80 and finish in 45th place at 26-over.

Stephanie Smith and Steph Gough each played as an individual. Smith finished 43rd at 24-over, and Gough tied for 51st at 33-over.

The Blue Raiders will now prepare for the Sun Belt Conference Championship next week at The Shoals Golf Club in Muscle Shoals. The first round of play will begin on Monday.
