Softball summer camp registration opens
Camps set for July at Blue Raider FieldApril 12, 2012 · Athletic Communications
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Blue Raider softball coaches have announced the opening of registration for the 2012 Middle Tennessee Softball Summer All-Skills Camps.
This year’s camps will be divided into two sessions based upon age. The first session will be for those aged 12 and under and will take place July 16 and 17, running from 8-11 a.m. CT each day. The second session will be a three-day camp for participants 13 years of age and older. It will occur July 16-18 from 5-8 p.m. Both sessions will be run at Blue Raider Field.
Middle Tennessee head coach Sue Nevar and assistants Megan Rhodes Smith and Kassie Stanfill will lead the camps and provide instruction in the areas of hitting and fielding. Current Middle Tennessee players will assist by demonstrating the proper form and technique needed to improve players’ skills.
The second session of the camp will also provide pitching instruction as Smith will teach camp participants the correct mechanics necessary to become an effective pitcher. The latter session will conclude with participants having the rare opportunity to play games “under the lights” of Blue Raider Field.
“As coaches, we cannot urge enough that those interested in improving their skills attend this camp,” said Stanfill. “We feel it is vital for young softball players to attend a summer camp. The value of the teaching and instruction that will be provided simply cannot be understated.”
The cost of attendance is $100 for the first session while the second session will cost $150. The deadline to register for each session is July 12, but walk-ups will be welcomed with an additional $25 fee.
