Blue Raiders to face No. 72 USF, UCF in Tampa
April 12, 2012 · Athletic CommunicationsMT (15-6) has been on a roll through the second half of the season, winning 10 of their last 11 matches. Ben Davis has led the way in the No. 1 position, reeling off seven consecutive singles wins for a 21-8 overall and 13-4 dual record. Matthew Langley and Ettore Zito have also been clutch for the Blue Raiders, each with six-match singles winning streaks.
In doubles action, Davis and partner Christoph Lang have won six straight, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot. On Tuesday, though, the duo played in the first slot and knocked off No. 59 UAB’s to tandem.
USF (8-12) is looking for its fourth straight victory. In their last outing, the Bulls won their third straight match at home by handing Marquette a 6-1 loss on April 1. Senior Wael Kilani (11-7 dual) has won all three of his singles matches during USF's streak while taking home three doubles victories as well with teammate Federico Sabogal.
UCF (9-11) is coming off a 7-0 loss at Tulsa last Saturday. Jorge Blasco plays in the top spot for the Knights with a 10-13 overall and 9-10 dual record, while Erik Brunskog is 9-17 and 9-11 dual at the No. 2 slot. Joe Delinks and Mitch Thams pair as the Knights’ No. 1 doubles team with a 5-4 overall and 3-3 dual record.
Following the conclusion of the regular season, the Blue Raiders will head to the Sun Belt Championships April 19-22 in Denton, Texas.
