Raiders' Choice Awards tickets go on-sale Wednesday

200 complimentary tickets available first-come, first-serve

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee athletic department announced today that 200 complimentary tickets to the inaugural Raiders Choice Awards will be available to the general public. The tickets can be picked up at the Middle Tennessee Ticket Office beginning Wednesday morning on a first-come, first-served basis. The ticket office opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 5:30 p.m.

The Raiders’ Choice Awards, a year-end Academy Awards style show recognizing the athletic and academic achievements of the Blue Raider student-athletes for the 2011-12 academic year, is scheduled forApril 26. The blue carpet event will begin at 6 p.m. at the MTSU Tucker Theater and the awards show gets underway at 7 p.m.

Fifteen different awards will be presented throughout the evening with three voted upon by fans via GoBlueRaiders.com linked ballots. The live web voting started April 13 and will run through Monday, April 23.

Fans will have the chance to voice their opinion for the Play of the Year, Performance of the Year and the Game/Event of the Year.

Other categories of awards include the Courage Award, Male/Female Newcomer of the Year, Most Improved Player and Male/Female Athlete of the Year.

Also, the President’s Award and Director’s Cup will be handed out, All-America student-athletes will be honored and the Student Academic Enhancement Center Achievement Awards and Highest Team GPA Award will be recognized.

MT Director of Broadcasting Chip Walters will serve as the emcee with the event being broadcast live on MTTV (channel 10) with the College of Mass Communication Electronic Media Department students serving on the production crew. A rerun of the broadcast will air multiple times the ensuing weekend on NewsChannel5+ (channel 250). Check program listings for exact airings.
