PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Middle Tennessee high jumper Ann Dudley broke the school record in the women’s high jump competition while capturing the event title on Friday at the Penn Relays.

The junior leaped 6 feet, 0.5 inches (1.84 meters) to claim the title. The jump broke the outdoor school record of 5-10.50 which was set by Veronica Tipton in 1992. Dudley’s mark also met the Provisional “B” Qualifying Standard for the Olympic Trials, possibly giving her the opportunity to attend the Trials. The performance also comes one day after Dudley was named Female Athlete of the Year at the Raiders’ Choice Awards.

Meanwhile Cordairo Golden also had a memorable day. The sophomore recorded a personal-best leap of 24-1.50 (7.35m) in the men’s collegiate long jump, smashing his previous best of 23-8.75 (7.23m) which he set earlier this season. Saturday’s jump was good enough for a runner-up finish in the competition, his fourth top-five result in the event so far this year.

Blue Raider sophomore France Makabu chipped in to Middle Tennessee’s showcase day by leaping 41-2.25 (12.55m) in the women’s collegiate triple jump. She finished third overall in the event, her sixth top-five finish in the triple jump this outdoor season.

In the relay events, the Blue Raider men’s 4x400-meter relay team qualified for Saturday’s collegiate final in the event. Asa Bowman, Roscoe Payne, Steven Palmer and Noah Akwu clocked a time of 3 minutes, 11.70 seconds in Friday’s preliminaries, good enough to advance to the finals. On the women’s side, Middle Tennessee finished fifth in the 4x100 collegiate finals with a time of 46.09 seconds.

The Blue Raiders will once again be in action on Saturday with more jumps and relay events.
