BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Due to heavy rain in the Boca Raton area, Middle Tennessee’s series finale with Florida Atlantic has been canceled.
The game was originally scheduled to be played Sunday at 11 a.m. CT. With rain falling throughout the morning and expected to continue throughout the day, it was determined the game would not be able to be played prior to Middle Tennessee’s scheduled return home to Murfreesboro. The contest will not be rescheduled.
With Sunday’s game canceled, the Blue Raiders (16-31, 5-16 Sun Belt) and Owls (15-35, 5-16 Sun Belt) remain tied for the eighth and final spot in the Sun Belt Tournament. Middle Tennessee hosts Western Kentucky on Saturday for a doubleheader while Florida Atlantic will meet FIU next weekend for a two-game home-and-home series. The teams will play Friday in Boca Raton before facing off Saturday in Miami.
Fans are encouraged to continue follow the team’s Twitter (@MT_Softball) and Facebook (MTSU Softball) pages during the duration of their trip to Boca Raton as behind-the-scenes pictures and videos will be uploaded to the sites as the Blue Raiders make their way home to Murfreesboro.
