What is your favorite memory both on and off the field during your time at Middle Tennessee?

On: Too many to remember…but Caitlin falling during groundballs at Troy…easily top 5

Off: The seniors pulling the WORLDS BEST PRANK on the rest of the team this year


What was your most embarrassing moment during your time at Middle Tennessee?

Let’s just say…my old teammates don’t let me forget about an incident that happened during the sit-up test sophomore year.

What one thing are you going to miss the most about playing softball at Middle Tennessee?

All the laughs that I shared with my teammates for 4 years. Nothing beats that…


What is one thing you would leave the underclassmen?

My game day lucky underwear…just kidding..

My first collegiate win against Purdue


What was your favorite road trip during your career?

Playing in the FAU tournament last year

The southern, small town charm, yet, close enough to the big city.

Attending Grad or Law School

What is your favorite memory both on and off the field during your time at Middle Tennessee?

On: Former teammate Jessi Couch and I both falling in the dugout in the same game.

Off: All of our accents and different voices.


What was your most embarrassing moment during your time at Middle Tennessee?

Tripping over my glove on a backhand play.


Who was the most influential person during your time at Middle Tennessee?

My best friend, Caty Jutson


What one thing are you going to miss the most about playing softball at Middle Tennessee?

The girls and all of our good times.

Don’t wait to be great.

Hopefully getting a job.

Abbey Sanders, Catcher, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

What is your favorite memory both on and off the field during your time at Middle Tennessee?

On: Some of my best memories happened in the bullpen. I remember this spring at Knoxville it was snowing so to keep warm we danced around. We were so cold we were delirious.

Off: My favorite memory off the field would be just hanging out with my teammates. When on the road during down time, we always find something fun to do. I loved going to the market in downtown Charleston.


Who was the most influential person during your time at Middle Tennessee?

Coach has to be the most influential person to me. She has taught me so much about life. She shows every day her drive and commitment to this program. She also is such an inspiration as a Mom. Her three children are very lucky to have her. I love that she never really turns her “Mom Button” off!!!


What one thing are you going to miss the most about playing softball at Middle Tennessee?

It is hard to just say one thing I am going to miss. There are lots of things I am going to miss, like the road trips, the 5:45 workouts, getting in the ice bath, hiding in the bullpen, and the list goes on. But the thing I am going to miss most-- my teammates!!


What is one thing you would leave the underclassmen?

I really don’t have anything I would leave them, but I would like to tell them to keep the tradition going, and welcome everybody new to the team. It started when I joined the team my sophomore year and Caitlin McLure Hines and Kelsey Dortch Acker took me in under their wings. So, ladies please don’t hurt the freshman coming in!!


What was your favorite road trip during your career?

My favorite road trip would have to be to the conference tournament my junior year. Lafayette is not my favorite town, but we arrived in style!! The sleeper bus was such an adventure and I loved riding 12 hours with my teammates for once!!


What was your major?

I will graduate in December with a Bachelor’s of Science in Special Education.


What was your favorite class?

My favorite classes were ones that dealt with Special Education.


Who was your favorite professor?

It is hard to pick one because I truly have two!! Dr. Rice and Dr. Calder are by far my favorite professors while at MTSU. They have taught me so much and we share the same love ~ Special Education.


What was your favorite place to eat in Murfreesboro?

This is such a hard question-- because being from Murfreesboro I have grown up eating at the restaurants here. But, if I were to have to pick, I would definitely say Demos’ is my favorite!!! They have great food and service for a great price!!!:)


What was your favorite thing about Middle Tennessee?

My favorite thing about MTSU is the sense of family. My classmates have grown to be my family as we have conquered the major of Special Education. I also have my other family and that’s my teammates!! I also love that everybody is so helpful and willing to help you in any way possible!!


What do you plan on doing following graduation?

I will have student teaching in the fall and then begin looking for a job or more school. Then to the real world I shall go!!!

What closing remarks do you have?

I would like to thank my Mom and Dad for always being there for me. I am so happy to have yall as my biggest fans. I love you both. Thank you to my teammates and coaches for the amazing past couple of years. I will miss you all!! Go BLUE!! And don’t forget: When you have confidence, you can have a lot of fun. And when you have fun, you can do amazing things. -- Joe Namath Always remember to have fun!!!!:)

What is your favorite memory both on and off the field during your time at Middle Tennessee?

On: My first at-bat back last year when I hit a homerun

When we were playing Lipscomb and I kept throwing the ball into the ground back to the pitcher

Traveling and eating all the time

On: My grand slam I hit during the 2011 Sun Belt Championships

Off: Team bonding - Cinco de Mayo my freshman year

I had tripped over my feet behind the plate and tried to play it off like nothing happened but it was too late and everyone saw

My coach, Sue Nevar


What one thing are you going to miss the most about playing softball at Middle Tennessee?

Bus rides and just being around my teammates. Never a dull moment.

ULL at home my sophomore year, Game 1 of the series was definitely was one to remember

Junior year when we went to FAU we went to the beach

My ideal plan is to begin my coaching career but if that doesn’t happen I will just have to settle with heading back home to California and living off the beach

What closing remarks do you have?

I have no regrets coming to Middle Tennessee and have enjoyed every minute of the past four years. I’ve met some great people and made friends who I don’t know how I’m going to live without. I thank my teammates and coaches for all they’ve done and I thank God for blessing me with this amazing opportunity.
