JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Middle Tennessee senior Justus David concluded his illustrious Blue Raider career on Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regionals.

The senior competed in the men’s 10,000-meter run but unfortunately was unable to complete the race. As a result, David failed to qualify for next month’s NCAA Championships, completing his season and Blue Raider career.

In Thursday’s sprints events, Roscoe Payne placed eighth in the sixth heat of the men’s 400-meter hurdle competition with a time of 1:00.48. Meanwhile Steven Palmer crossed the finish line of the men’s 400 meters in 48.03 seconds, placing eighth in the third preliminary heat.

In the women’s long jump competition, Nyeisha Wright placed 22nd with a leap of 19-8.75 (6.01m) while Kiara Henry jumped 18-9.25 (5.72m) to finish 39th. On the men’s side, Solomon Atosona placed 25th, leaping 23-7.25 (7.19m).

None of the six Middle Tennessee athletes were able to advance to the NCAA Championship meet. However, four of the six still have at least one event remaining this week. Payne and Palmer will join Noah Akwu and Asa Bowman to compose the men’s 4x400-meter relay team which will compete Saturday evening. Meanwhile Henry will run in the women’s 200 meters on Saturday while Wright will take part in Saturday’s triple jump event. The female duo will also be part of the women’s 4x100-meter relay team which also competes Saturday.

The meet continues Friday morning with more field events with track events scheduled to begin Friday afternoon.
