MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee baseball’s Hunter Adkins was drafted on the final day of the 2012 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft on Wednesday. Adkins, a starting righthander for the Blue Raiders, was taken by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 18th round with the 575th pick.
Adkins finished the 2012 season with a 5-6 record and 5.75 ERA. The Signal Mountain, Tenn., native produced one of his best career outings in his second start this year, throwing a complete-game shutout against Ohio on Feb. 24. He fanned four Bobcats and didn’t walk a batter in the contest. Adkins also went the distance against WKU last season in his final start of the season, giving up one run on four hits to pick up the victory.
The righty went 8-17 with a 6.01 ERA during his Blue Raider career.
