MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee soccer program will play host to 10 matches this fall, including a pair against Southeastern Conference foes, as the 2012 schedule was unveiled Monday by head coach Aston Rhoden.
“We are excited about playing host to 10 quality opponents as part of our fall schedule,” Rhoden said. “Each one of our non-conference matches will prepare and test us as we head into the rigorous Sun Belt slate.”
The 10-match home slate will begin with the Blue Raiders playing host to Mississippi August 19, two days after MT opens the campaign in Jacksonville, Ala., against Jacksonville State.
The meeting with the Rebels is the first of a four-match homestand, which also includes an August 31 contest against Vanderbilt. The stretch will also feature meetings with Alabama A&M (August 24) and ETSU (September 2).
Following a September 7 trip to Cookeville, Tenn., to battle Tennessee Tech, Middle Tennessee returns home September 9 to welcome Belmont to Dean A. Hayes Track and Soccer Stadium. The non-conference portion of the calendar then concludes a week later with a road game at Memphis, renewing a series against the Tigers for the first time since 2005 and after they registered a 22-1-1 record on their way to a final No. 3 ranking by Soccer America and No. 9 in the NSCAA poll.
Sun Belt Conference action starts the weekend of September 21-23 and the Blue Raiders play host to UALR and Arkansas State. The next two weekends see Middle Tennessee catching flights to south Florida and Louisiana for four league matches.
The Blue Raiders then return home to play host to Troy and South Alabama, October 12 and 14, respectively, before heading to Denton, Texas, for the final road match of the year at North Texas.
Middle Tennessee will then play host to Western Kentucky October 26 in the final regular-season contest before the Sun Belt Championships, October 31 through November 3 in Mobile, Ala.
