Guidry named to ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team
Mount Juliet native is sixth Blue Raider to receive honor
June 20, 2012 · Athletic CommunicationsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee’s Justin Guidry has been named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Third Team, as announced on Wednesday by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Guidry is the sixth Blue Raider in program history selected as an All-American by the organization.
Guidry was selected as a utility player after splitting time between left field and first base this season. An All-Sun Belt First Team honoree this year, Guidry led the league with 87 hits and ranked second with a .364 batting average. The senior finished his career at MT as the all-time singles leader with 216. He also is tied for third in the school record book with 278 hits and sixth with a .368 career average.
The Mount Juliet, Tenn., native earned first-team all-region honors earlier this month for the second time in his career, having also picked up the accolade as a sophomore in 2010. Dewon Brazelton (2001), Todd Martin (2005), Michael McKenry (2006), Bryce Brentz (2008/2009) and Kenneth Roberts (2009) are the other five Blue Raiders honored as All-Americans by the ABCA.
Guidry joins freshman Johnathan Frebis as MT’s second All-America honoree this season. Frebis was named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America Team on June 6.
