MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee head volleyball coach Matt Peck's 2012 recruiting class has been listed on the PrepVolleyball.com Highest Honorable Mention list, putting it just outside the top-30 classes in the nation as ranked by the publication.

The incoming class consists of Shelby Anderton (6-0, S, Collierville, Tenn.), Katie Bange (6-4, OPP, Marietta, Ga.), Alyssa Ivey (5-7, S, Brentwood, Tenn.), Jazmyne Johnson (6-0, MB, DeSoto, Texas), Bri McCombs (5-2, DS/L, Franklin,Tenn.), Chelsea Ross (5-11, OH, Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Miri Shade (6-0, MB, DeSoto, Texas), and is bolstered by the recent addition of Rachel Shaughnessy (6-1, MB, Hixson, Tenn.).

"In my 29 years as a collegiate coach, this is the most excited I've been about an incoming freshman class not only about the number of kids but also the talent we have," said Peck. "This is our tallest and most decorated class ever. We have the 2011 Player of the Year from Tennessee and the Player of the Year from Georgia. Chelsea Ross was an AAU and USA Volleyball All-American in the 17 and under national tournaments. Rachel Shaughnessy, Bri McCombs, and Shelby Anderton were First-Team All-State in Tennessee."

The Blue Raiders open practice for the 2012 season on Wednesday and Peck is excited to see his new charges in action.

"We are loaded at the back end and I could honestly see us, at some times, putting six freshmen on the floor. We worked really hard on this class and I feel real good about where we are with them. If you look at our pre-conference schedule, you'll see that I have high expectations for them right off the bat."
