Women's golf in second after day one of Chris Banister Classic
Haggard leads the field with two-under par on Sunday
September 2, 2012 · @MTAthleticsGLENCOE, Ala. - Middle Tennessee women's golf sits in second place after one round at the Chris Banister Golf Classic at Silver Lakes Golf Club hosted by Jacksonville State University.
The Blue Raiders (299, +11) are just a stroke behind leader Texas State, who managed a 298 (+10), on a windy day in Glencoe.
Murray State was two strokes behind the Blue Raiders with 301 (+301) on Sunday, while Lamar (304, +16) and Jacksonville State (313, +25) rounded out the top five.
Senior Ashley Haggard scored her lowest round since 2010 when she posted a 33 in the front nine and 37 in the back nine for a total of 70 (2-under par) to lead the field. The Hardin County product managed her best round since scoring a 69 at the Dale McNamara Invitational on Oct. 11-13, 2010.
Freshman Emily Williams sits in a tie for fourth, posting a 74 (+2) in her collegiate debut. Junior Natalie Chrisopulos followed in a tie for 11th with a round of 76 (+4) after day one.
Olivia Love managed a 79 (+7) for 20th, while teammate Allie Knight managed an 82 (+10) after the first day.
Freshman Avery George sat in 17th as an individual with a score of 77 (+5).
Action resumes Monday morning using split tees at 10 a.m. Results will be posted online at GoBlueRaiders.com following the conclusion of the round.
