Ross named Sun Belt Volleyball Player of the Week
Freshman outside hitter averaged 4.38 kills in Hokie Invitational
September 3, 2012 · @MTAthleticsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee freshman outside hitter Chelsea Ross has been named the Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Ross averaged 4.37 kills per set in the Blue Raiders' three matches at the Hokie Invitational last weekend, hitting .312 in the three matches.
She opened the weekend with a 19-kill, 11-dig effort in the Blue Raiders 3-2 win over Harvard on Friday. Ross also had three blocks against the Crimson. On Saturday, she set a career-high with 23 kills against Towson and hit .439 in the four-set win. In the deciding fourth set, Ross had eight kills on eight attempts with no errors. She closed out the tournament with 15 kills and 10 digs against Virginia Tech Saturday night. Ross is currently second in the conference in kills per set with 3.96.
Middle Tennessee is in action today at 2 p.m. at VCU.
