MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee tennis teams will begin gearing up for the 2012 fall season this weekend with the 26th annual Wally Tidwell Pro-Am at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center Sept. 7-8.
"This event has a great tradition that was started by coach Dale Short and we have been able to continue the tradition," said men's head coach Jimmy Borendame. "The Pro-Am gives our alumni and our community a chance to mingle and play with our past and present players. Also, all the proceeds go towards the new Indoor Tennis Center here in Murfreesboro which will benefit both MTSU and the community."
On Friday, Sept. 7 participants will have a chance to hit around at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center from 5-6 p.m. A reception will also be held at the Jeff Hendrix Stadium Club inside Floyd Stadium from 6-7:30 p.m. that night. The Pro-Am will begin on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the women's Pro-Am. Men's play will start at 11 a.m. The festivities continue with a tailgate prior to the Middle Tennessee-Florida Atlantic football game that is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff Saturday night.
The cost of the event is $150. All contributions will be put towards the MTSU Indoor Tennis Campaign. For more information, contact Borendame at mttennis@mtsu.edu or (615) 898-2957.
