Ben Davis ranked #92 in 2012 Campbell/ITA Division I preseason rankings

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee men's tennis junior Ben Davis has been ranked among the top collegiate singles players in the country to start the 2012-13 season by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Davis is the #92 singles player in the 2012 Campbell/ITA Division I preseason rankings, as released on Friday by the ITA.

"Ben has put in the work both on and off the court this summer and the past two seasons," said head coach Jimmy Borendame about Davis. "This ranking is a reflection of his efforts.  I anticipate Ben being ranked throughout the season as he continues to improve his game.  He is proving to be a great vocal leader as well and is learning to make others around him better as we aim for our team's goals in this new season."

This is Davis' second appearance in the ITA preseason rankings. In 2011, Davis started the season ranked 115^th nationally. Davis earned Sun Belt All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles last season for the second consecutive time. He had a 25-9 singles record, winning 11 straight matches going into Middle Tennessee's meeting with #21 Michigan in the NCAA tournament. Davis played at the number one singles position throughout the 2011 season and beat the top player from eight nationally-ranked teams.

The Blue Raiders open their fall slate on Sept. 21 with the Dale Short Shootout at the Buck Bouldin Tennis Center.
