MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee linebacker Roderic Blunt has been named the College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Blue Raiders' win at Memphis.
Blunt, a junior from Miramar, Fla., played a big role in holding the Tigers to less than 100 yards rushing in the 48-30 win on the road. Blunt shared the team lead with seven tackles, including two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. It marked the second straight game MT has held an opponent to less than 100 yards on the ground.
Blunt leads the Blue Raiders with 27 total tackles which is exactly half of his total of 54 from a year ago.
