Raiders tied for 8th after round one

Armstrong shoots even par 71 to lead MT

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee opened play Friday at the Mason Rudolph Championship where it carded a 292 at the par 71, 7,100-yard South Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The Blue Raiders, tied for eighth, are the defending tournament champions.

Oklahoma grabbed the overall lead with a 280 while Mississippi and College of Charleston were tied for second with a score of 285. Host Vanderbilt was fourth with a 285 followed by Georgia State and Georgia Southern in fifth.

Junior Lucas Armstrong, playing in his first tournament of the fall, led the way for the Blue Raiders with an even par 71 and is tied for 15th. Armstrong had four birdies on the day.

Junior Brett Patterson also had four birdies on his way to a 73. Patterson is tied for tied for 33rd.

Sophomore Payne Denman registered a 73 and is tied for 33rd, while sophomore Andrew Cho turned in a 75 to tie for 52nd.

Junior Jordan Jennings rounded out the scoring with a 76.

The Blue Raiders will play round two beginning Saturday morning.
