Blue Raiders sit fourth after day one at Marilynn Smith Invitational

LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team sits fourth after the first two rounds of the Marilynn Smith Invitational hosted by the University of Kansas.
The Blue Raiders carded a 317 in the first round and a 309 in the second for a combined score of 626 (+50) with 18 holes remaining after Monday's action at the Alvamar Golf Course. Kansas leads the tournament with a 601 (+25), Arkansas State is currently second with a 617 (+41) and Kansas State is third at 619 (+43).
Ashley Haggard continued to set the pace for MT, sitting 10th after recording a pair of 76's for a total 152 (+8) on day one. Haggard is nine strokes off leader Abigail Laker (Arkansas State), who shot a 143 (-1) through the first two rounds. Kansas' Yupaporn Kawinpakorn sits second (146, +2) and North Dakota State's Amy Anderson (147, +3) is third.
Emily Williams, playing as an individual, shot a 156 (+12) to tie for 16th, while Olivia Love is currently tied for 18th (157, +13). Emily Miller finished the day tied for 24th at 159 (+15), Avery George sits 29th (160, +16) and Allie Knight rounded out the scoring for MT tied for 43rd (163, +19).
Play resumes Tuesday with the final 18 holes. There will be a staggered shotgun start at 8 a.m.
