Blue Raiders claim four wins in final day at Hokie Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The final day of the Hokie Fall Invitational was successful for Middle Tennessee women's tennis as the Blue Raiders picked up four victories on Sunday.
Freshman Irina Constantinide won the 'D' flight of the tournament in a close contest with ETSU's Sofia Espana. The Galati, Romania product captured the first set 6-2 before falling to Espana in a tough 6-7 (0-2) second game to even the match. Constantinide prevailed to a 6-4 win in the third set, capturing her first individual tournament title in her debut collegiate weekend.
Constantinide and teammate Nayara Moraes snatched an 8-3 victory in the B flight over UNC Wilimington's Christina Riley/Hamilton Lovett to claim third.
Nayara Moraes claimed an easy win over Liberty's Annisha Domenech, 6-2, 6-0 in the C flight.
Meanwhile, the senior Nomoto dropped a 7-6 (1-0), 6-4 contest to Wofford's Evans.
In the B singles bracket, Nagayama dropped a 7-5, 7-6 (3-0) match to UNCW's Riley.
"For the most part, we finished strong today," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "Irina did a good job of battling through her match and pulling out the win. We will get back to practice this week and work on some specifics before heading to Alabama next weekend.
The Raiders visits Tuscaloosa next weekend, Oct. 5-7, for the Roberta Alison Fall Classic.
