Men's Tennis wraps up play at UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic

Ettore Zito reaches final round of pre-qualifying at ITA All-American Championships

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team continued its split squad action at the UTC Steve Baras Fall Classic in Chattanooga and at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Sunday.

Yannick Born, Marlon Brand, and Tomas Legzdins wrapped up play in Chattanooga with singles matches. Born dropped the first set of his match against Ahmet Sarioglu of UNC Greensboro 6-2, but bounced back to take the second set 6-4. He then won a close 11-9 supertiebreaker to win the match. Brand lost a first set tiebreaker 7-1 to UNC Greensboro's Jimmy Dougherty, then lost the second set 6-3. Legzdins also was on the short end of his match, losing 6-0, 6-4 to Chip Cox of South Carolina.

In Tulsa, Sophomore Ettore Zito won his third round match in pre-qualifying 6-3, 7-5 over Ayrton Wibowo of Clemson. In the final round, however, Zito lost to TCU's JT Sundling 6-2, 6-2.

Junior Ben Davis begins play in the qualifying round of the ITA All-American Championships on Monday. Davis and Christoph Lang begin doubles play on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
