Dendy begins play in Greece Thursday
Former Blue Raider continues career at international level
September 30, 2012 · @MTAthleticsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Former Blue Raider LaRon Dendy begins his international basketball career on Thursday when Kolossos opens the season.
The 2012 Sun Belt Player of the Year has signed on for one year with the Greek team, a member of Europe's A1 League. Dendy touched base with GoBlueRaiders.com last week and mentioned that his time at Middle Tennessee helped him tremendously in preparing for the next level, stating it "helped me stay focused on the court. It taught me toughness, buying in, being prepared every day, knowledge and having a different outlook on the game. The list can go on and on."
Aside from his time on the court, Dendy has enjoyed getting acquainted with the island of Rhodes, where he currently resides.
"It's beautiful out here, and I drive all over town when I have some time off," Dendy said. "I stay on an island, so my view every day is nice."
While Dendy has adjusted to the new environment, he said the biggest change is the time difference of eight hours and mentioned that "I miss my grandma a lot and the rest of my family, but they understand the grind."
Dendy played a key role in MT's record-setting 27-7 season in 2011-12, leading the Blue Raiders with 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game en route to earning AP All-America Honorable Mention honors. To follow Dendy and Kolossos throughout the season, click here.
