Ben Davis wins first singles match at ITA All-American Championships
Davis advances to second round of qualifying in three sets

TULSA, Okla. - Middle Tennessee men's tennis junior Ben Davis rebounded from dropping a first set tiebreaker to win his first round qualifying match 6-7 (3-7), 6-0, 7-5 Monday afternoon at the ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla.
Davis took on Grant Ive from Tulsa and held serve to a 3-2 lead in the opening set. Ive broke serve to take a 4-3 lead, but Davis broke his serve to take a 6-5 lead. The set went to a tiebreaker which went Ive's way 7-3. Davis came back in a big way in the second set, winning it 6-0. He earned a key service break early in the third to take a 2-1 lead. Davis then held serve the rest of the set, winning the set 7-5.
"Ben played with great composure under pressure after dropping the first set tiebreaker," said head coach Jimmy Borendame after the match.
Davis will play his second round singles match Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. against Florida State's Dominic Cotrone. He will also be in action in doubles with Christoph Lang in the qualifying doubles draw on Tuesday.
