Blue Raiders to host rival #20 WKU Tuesday night

Both sides to wear pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Fresh off a win Saturday at Louisiana, the Middle Tennessee volleyball team returns to Alumni Memorial Gym Tuesday night for a match against rival WKU. First serve is at 7 p.m.

Both sides will be decked out in pink in honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There will also be Middle Tennessee Pink-Out shirts and hats available for sale at Tuesday night's game.

Middle Tennessee snapped its losing streak Saturday with a 3-1 (25-18, 15-25, 26-24, 36-34) win at Louisiana on Saturday. Freshman outside hitter Chelsea Ross led all players with 19 kills and a career-high 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Senior Brandi Waller added a career-high 17 kills. Shelby Anderton had her first career double-double with 50 assists and 10 digs. Middle Tennessee hit .285 for the match, its highest percentage since hitting .314 against Towson on Sept. 1.

The Blue Raiders have gotten great play as of late from redshirt-freshman middle blocker Tyler Richardson. She is currently second in the Sun Belt, and 64th nationally, in blocks with 1.23 per set. Over the last five matches, Richardson has averaged 1.47 blocks per set and has hit .451. She leads the Blue Raiders with a .303 hitting percentage.

Middle Tennessee has won nine of the last 14 meetings against WKU. The Lady Toppers, ranked no. 20 in the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll, won two out of three meetings against the Blue Raiders in 2011 including the Sun Belt Tournament championship match. WKU enters Tuesday night's match with a 17-3 record and a 3-0 mark in conference play after a 3-0 sweep at Louisiana Friday night.
