Blue Raiders prepare for Roberta Alison Fall Classic
Doubles kicks off tournament Friday at 9 a.m.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The second weekend of fall competition begins for Middle Tennessee's women's tennis program. The Blue Raiders visit the University of Alabama for the Roberta Fall Alison Classic on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4-5.
Friday's competition starts with doubles matches at 9 a.m. Central, followed by two singles matches to close out the day. On Saturday, there will be two doubles contests followed by the last singles match. Sunday is slated for a makeup day if weather should interfere.
There are several teams from across the nation competing in the tournament including Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Michigan and Vanderbilt. There are a few student-athlete that rank in the ITA fall rankings.
"This is going to be one of the toughest tournaments we play this fall," said head coach Shelley Godwin. "We are going to have the chance to play against some of the best teams in the country. It's important for us to come ready every match and take advantage of opportunities throughout the weekend."
Middle Tennessee is coming off a solid weekend at the Hokie Fall Invitational. Freshman Irina Constantinide claimed the 'D' singles tournament title, while both the tandem of Constantinide and Nayara Moraes placed third with a 3-1 record in the 'B' doubles section.
Five Blue Raiders are slated to participate this weekend. Lexi Brand will play doubles for the first time, while Yuiri Nomoto and Flavia Nagayama are expected to see action in Tuscaloosa.
Draws and results will be posted online at the conclusion of each day.
