Cross Country competes at FrontRunner Invitational

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's and women's cross country teams each posted third-place finishes Saturday at the FrontRunner Invitational.
Autumn Gipson was the top women's finisher for the Blue Raiders, finishing third in the two-mile race in a time of 11:33.35. Julia Kitevski (12:05.08) and Tressanique Hampton (12:06.26) were close behind Gipson, finishing 12th and 13th, respectively. The final two female scorers were Rachel Islam (12:10.80) in 15th and Stephanie Smith (12:17.21) in 16th.
Hannah Northam was the final MT runner, finishing 43rd in 13:50.62.
UT-Chattanooga won the women's race with 70 points while Kennesaw State had 79 for second. MT has 102 team points.
The top men's finisher for Middle Tennessee was Robinson Simatei, who placed second in the 5K race with a time of 15:27.39. Alden Dixon crossed the finish line in 15:43.25 for sixth place and Ketih Davis' 15:56.66 was good enough for 11th.
Daniel Ketter and Lyle Haywood were MT's fourth and fifth scorers, as Ketter (16:02.22) placed 15th and Lyle Haywood (16:08.28) was 16th. Silas Taiget and Jamarious Jones were the final MT runners across. Taiget ran a time of 16:16.13 while Jones navigated the course in 17:47.16.
UTC won the men's race with 39 team points while Bryan was second with 43. MT had 50 points.
The Blue Raiders will continue their season at the Sun Belt Championships in Bowling Green, Ky., on Oct. 27.
