MURFREESBORO - Middle Tennessee senior running back Benny Cunningham was named the Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office. It marks the second player of the week honor for the Nashville native this season.
Cunningham, who became the first Blue Raider to record two 200-yard rushing games in the same season since Dwone Hicks in 2001, rushed 36 times for 230 yards in the win over FIU. Both were personal-bests and ranked seventh on MT's single-game list.
Cunningham now leads the Sun Belt Conference in rushing and scoring, while ranking 13th nationally in rushing and third in scoring.
Cunningham was also recognized nationally by earning College Football Performance Awards National All-Purpose Player of the Week, while taking College Sports Madness honors for SBC Offensive Player of the Week accolades.
