Blue Raiders continue to battle against tough field in Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - The Middle Tennessee women's golf team continued to battle against some of the nation's top teams at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic on Tuesday. The Blue Raiders currently stand 16th after 36 holes at the par-72, 6,327-yard Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course.

The Blue Raiders carded a 321 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 624 (+48), putting them just eight strokes out of the top 10 among a field that features eight of the nation's top 50 teams, with three ranking in the top 30. No. 13 Oklahoma continues to pace the field with a 579 (+3), while No. 14 Texas Tech (594, +18) and No. 49 Coastal Carolina (596, +20) round out the top three.

Notre Dame's Lindsey Weaver took sole possession of the individual leaderboard after shooting a 72 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 140 (-4). Weaver sits a stroke ahead of the trio in a tie for second place - Oklahoma's Chirapat Jao-Javanil and Emily Collins and Texas Tech's Kimberly Kaufman.

Ashley Haggard led MT on day two, carding a 77 for a 36-hole total of 150 (+6). Haggard is tied for 21st, just two strokes away from cracking the top 15. Stephanie Smith shot an 81 for a two-day total of 156 (+12) and is tied for 60th. Avery George knocked four strokes off her score today with a 77 in the second round for a total of 158 (+14) to tie for 68th. Natalie Chrisopulos in a tie for 82nd (164, +20) and Emily Miller in a tie for 84th (165, +21) rounded out the scoring for MT.

The tournament concludes on Wednesday with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring is available via golfstat.com.

The Blue Raiders will return home for their final fall tournament next week when they host the Blue Raider Invitational at Old Fort Golf Club. The 54-hole tournament begins Monday.
