Davis to participate in Coaches vs. Cancer luncheon

MT head coach joins other area coaches in fight against cancer

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee men's basketball head coach Kermit Davis will take part in the Coaches vs. Cancer luncheon on Thursday at Belmont's Curb Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Davis joins five other Division I head coaches from the Middle Tennessee area to support the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. Rick Byrd (Belmont), Scott Sanderson (Lipscomb), Kevin Stallings (Vanderbilt), David Loos (Austin Peay) and Travis Williams (Tennessee State) will also take part in the program, with 102.5 The Game's Willy Daunic serving as emcee.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a nationwide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The initiative leverages the personal experiences, community leadership, and professional excellence of basketball coaches to increase cancer awareness and promote healthy living. Since 1993, coaches have raised more than $75 million to support the American Cancer Society's fight against cancer. In 2011, nearly 5,000 college and high school coaches participated in the program.

The Blue Raiders open the season in one week, hosting Auburn-Montgomery in an exhibition on Nov. 5 at 7 p.m. The regular season tips off Nov. 9 against Alabama State in Murphy Center at 7:45 p.m.
