Brentz, Woods to play in AFL Rising Stars Game

First pitch slated for 7 p.m. CT on MLB Network

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Former Blue Raiders Bryce Brentz and Coty Woods will participate in the Arizona Fall League's Rising Stars game Saturday at 7 p.m. CT. The contest will air on the MLB Network from Salt River Fields at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Brentz will represent the Surprise Saguaros in the West Division, while Woods is on the East's roster as a member of the Salt River Rafters.

Brentz has quickly worked his way through the Boston Red Sox system since the 2010 MLB draft. After earning the Red Sox' 2011 Minor League Offensive Co-Player of the Year award as an outfielder, Brentz began the 2012 season with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs before joining the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox late in the year. Brentz and the Red Sox won the International League crown to advance to the Triple-A World Series.

Woods began the 2012 season in the Colorado Rockies' system with the Tulsa Drillers of the Double-A Texas League before advancing to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox of the Triple-A Pacific Coast League. Following the Triple-A season, the righthander has made seven appearances with the River Rafters, he holds a 3.24 ERA with a 1-0 record. For Woods' complete minor league bio, click here.
