Blue Raiders wrap up fall season with three wins at Crimson Tide Fall Championships

Zito, Lang, and Brand all win to conclude the fall slate

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team wrapped up its 2012 fall season Sunday with the final round of singles play at the Crimson Tide Fall Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama.

Three Blue Raiders won their matches Sunday. Marlon Brand rolled to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jackson State's Marko Milosavljevic. Ettore Zito also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0 against Robbie Aru of Furman. Zito finished the fall with a 10-4 singles record. Christoph Lang won the first set of his match against Tulane's Rodrigo Rappaccioli 6-4, but lost the second set 7-6 on a tiebreaker of 8-6. In the third set supertiebreaker, Lang defeated Rappaccioli 10-7 to win the match. Yannick Born also played a three-set match on Sunday, taking on Rafael Rondino of UAB. He dropped the opening set 3-6, but won the second set 7-6 after taking the tiebreaker 7-5. Rondino, however, won the third set supertiebreaker 10-4 to win the match.

Middle Tennessee opens its spring season on Jan. 20, 2013 with a pair of matches against Lipscomb and Murray State at Nashboro Village in Nashville.
