Harley named SBC Defensive Player of Week
Also garners TSWA honors
November 19, 2012 · @MTAthleticsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee junior safety Jajuan Harley was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday as announced by the league office. It marks the first-ever player of the week honor for the Tallahassee, Fla., native.
Harley was responsible for forcing three South Alabama turnovers in Middle Tennessee's 20-12 victory over the Jaguars on Saturday.
Harley, who also had five tackles in the game, recorded his first interception in the first quarter, stopping a USA scoring drive. He then forced a fumble and recovered his own force to help thwart the South Alabama offense. Finally, Harley intercepted a pass in the dwindling minutes of the fourth quarter to seal the Blue Raiders fifth road of the season.
Harley, a transfer from Florida State, has 63 tackles and a team-best three interceptions in 10 games this season.
This marks the 48th SBC Player of the Week honor under Rick Stockstill and the 19th defensive honor honor.
Harley was also honored as the Defensive Player of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
