November 27, 2012 · @MTAthleticsMURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee junior forward Shawn Jones has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week as announced on Tuesday by the league office.

Jones posted 18 points and 13 rebounds, both career-highs, in the 75-61 win over UCF Tuesday. The Hialeah, Fla., native then turned around and topped his career-high in scoring again against Texas Southern, this time with 21 points in the 79-52 victory. He scored 15 of those points in the first half and added 12 boards in the contest, including nine on the offensive glass.
The double-double marked the third of his career, and he has scored double-figures in three straight games.
Jones and the Blue Raiders open conference action this week when they travel to Louisiana. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT Thursday at the Cajundome.
